We often see in scripture moments where followers of God will retreat to solitary places to be still before God and hear from Him. Even Jesus frequently "went out to the mountainside to pray" (Luke 6:12) and this escape is very intentional. The aim of the 7ten Retreat is to take a few days together as a community in a different location to remove ourselves from our daily distractions simply to quiet our hearts and ask God to reveal more of Himself to us. This weekend contains times of worship and teaching but mostly gives space for everyone to enjoy community with one another and spend isolated and undistracted time with the Creator. God is always very present and available but if we lend our ear to the lies of the world, they can tend to drown out the voice of the Spirit. However, when we retreat like this, the routine worries and concerns of our everyday life can grow increasingly silent making way for the Savior of the world to be heard speaking the promises of God to us. And as we leave the "mountainside" these promises still ring loudly in our ears and in our hearts giving us renewed strength to love Him more and more in all that we do.
